Week 32 of 2020: Camp out and Greenwood Park
This week I had a couple of days off work. So I wanted to make sure we made the most of it!
Camping Out

We surprised the boys this week with a camp out. Well to be honest not just a camp out but a barbecue and movie in the garden too!
We got delicious meat from the butchers for the barbecue, some fresh salad and the wife made a couple of cheeky cocktails! For the film we had to wait for it to get a little darker so the screen could be seen well, while we waited I set the tent up which was a lot quicker this time around, after we found the tent pegs that had completely vanished!
We also made some s’mores to eat while watching the film. I always tend to get into a bit of a mess with mine, but they are so scrumptious!
The camp out went well although I think I only managed about 2 hours sleep once we had settled down for the night (at 2am!) There was some clanging around and the wind started to blow quite a bit. But it was a fun adventure for us all!
Telescope

It’s been years since I had my telescope out. It was one of the first anniversary present I got given by my wife. As we were camping out and in for some clear skies. I thought it would be a fitting time to get to use my telescope. Where we were living before there was a lot of light pollution. But we are lucky now that it is a minimum. I even managed to get a snap of the moon from my mobile phone using the scope!
Park day

Since lock down has been eased a little. We thought it time to head out on an adventure. So we booked a family ticket to Greenwood Park. It had been a little while since we last ventured that way. I was interested in seeing what preparation Greenwood had taken due to COVID. I have to say the team all seemed very cautious which allowed you to relax a little.
Masks were mandatory on the coaster and optional around the park. I saw staff merrily wiping down communal surfaces all around. Most of the areas were open except for the bare foot trial, the dragon maze and giant jumper. All the ride equipment was cleaned before the next user went on and there were handy 2-meter markers all around the park.
I have to say I really did enjoy the day; I am not one for rides, but I did enjoy archery and the enchanted river ride. We even made time to do some den building which we didn’t quite get around to on the last visit to Greenwood.
When it was time for food, we managed to get a burger from one of the snack shops as the café was closed to ensure every was kept socially distant! They must think a lot of their staff as they all had PPE, something I haven’t seen many other employers do.
Track of the week
This week its time for some Kings of Leon. It was a hard choice as I have played so many of their tracks this week! So here it is King of the Rodeo, I love its upbeat style!

It sounds like a fantastic week!
The barbecue looks and sounds amazing and the camping out fun apart from the lack of sleep. x
We are rubbish at ever having a BBQ here, really should make more effort. Love the telescope shot, I need to get my new long lens out to shoot the moon at some point #366
The visit to Greenwood sounds fun, nice to hear that the staff are adhering to the covid measures. I used to love garden camping with the boys when they were young, although we’d often end up on the lounge floor around 4 in the morning due to the cold or rain
Sounds like a good week. We need to do a camp out at home as we cancelled our annual camping trip earlier in the summer. Great moon shot.
I love your shirt! OoOOo camping and the meat looks so tempting. That’s a great view of the moon from the telescope. Greenwood sounds like fun. It’s good that the staff cleans up before the next user comes.
Well done for taking the boys camping the in the garden. The BBQ looks so tasty.
Glad the theme park went well – it’s good to see plenty of cleaning going on.
Impressive BBQ, we only botther when we have guests as the kids barely eat meat and I’m vegan but loooooove the smell! The park looks fab, I’m off to check where it is! #project366
We haven’t ventured to a theme park but the kids are keen to go. The BBQ looks fabulous and glad to hear that you managed to enjoy a couple of days off work
How lovely to have a camp-out in the garden with a barbecue and a movie. I can imagine the boys had a lot of fun even if you didn’t get much sleep. Love the photo of the moon taken through your telescope. The trip to Greenwood Park looks like it was fun. #project366
I love your shirt. We’ve not been camping, but do love a bbq. That’s a great view of the moon from the telescope. Greenwood sounds great. x
Awww love Kings of Leon. The BBQ looks great, I must admit we were thinking about having a camping night out at home but the thought of no sleep is putting me off!
