Week 31 of 2020: Romance and Virtual Reality
This week saw some fantastic weather return to the area! On the odd day it wasn’t so good we still made the most of it! Unfortunately for me I was stuck in the office for the bulk of it. However I did manage to fit a few things in.
Car Repair
I bought my car new back in 2014 and she has been a steady and reliable ride. Despite having a couple of car accidents with her now. However at the end of last week she decided to shoot the handbrake button off. This meant I had to keep the car in gear and on the flat whenever I was parking!
It was a quick job for the garage to fit after waiting just under a week for the part to arrive. It really puts you off when you know your car has an issue!
Binge Watching
I started to watch some of the old Louis Theroux documentaries. Currently half way through his weird weekends. He takes a unique approach when dealing with a vast amount of different people. I find it very interesting to discover different belief systems and wacky things some of the featured people do. Its well worth a watch.
Humans has also featured heavily in our watch list. This is one I was with Karen, its only three seasons and it started back in 2015. So we are a little late to the game, nevertheless it’s a great show. The show revolves around a normal family and their first synthetic robot. Their helper however has a hidden past!
Romantic Walk

On one of the days I worked late we decided to visit the in-laws. The boys were reluctant to come for a walk so instead they dug out the in-laws potatoes while we took the opportunity to have a romantic walk.
It was the first time we have had any time alone since before lockdown! There was no bickering to hear. A tranquil walk chatting about random things like we did when we got together all those years ago. To top it off we managed to get an ice cream sundae!
Virtual Reality
The boys really like Virtual reality and have a few games they like to play. I set the system up again this week for them to have another play on it. I even managed a go on pistol whip myself. The game features different sound tracks that you need to shoot people to the beat. Its very inversive as you have to move, lean and duck under structures while still shooting and dodging bullets.
You don’t realise how much of a work out you have had until you take the headset off and your dripping with sweat. Not to mention the morning after when your struggling to go up stairs because your legs are aching! Perhaps I should add virtual reality to my work out regimen!
Track of the week
This isn’t so much a dance at your hob one. But I cannot shake the feeling I know this song from somewhere. I was thinking thirteen reasons why or such like. I have googled it and do not recognise the films attached to it on wiki. I know they have done a lot of music for adverts so perhaps that’s where I have heard it. Please let me know if you know where it is from it’s really bugging me!
It’s such an emotive song, definitely suitable for the end credits of a film or dramatic cliff hanger to a series!

That’s a shame you had to miss out on the good weather.
It sounds like the repair on the car went well.
I do like the Louis Theroux documentaries. They are always so interesting.
The Virtual Reality games sounds like a lot of fun and a great work out. x
I feel the car pain. Mine currently has an ‘engine system service needed’ light come on all the time, but until they check the diagnostics, there’s no idea of what or how serious it might be. It’s due in for service/MOT in Sept too, but couldn’t get i booked in til Sept. I’d usually send it to a local independent guy round the corner from work, but I’ve had to send it to the dealer so they’ll collect and return. If it goes to the other guy I’m then stranded in town, unable to work anywhere for potentially hours. Frustrating as I’d get it done faster with him, and cheaper. But needs must.
That ice cream sundae looks delicious
I feel your pain about being stuck in the office with this weather, although I do get out later in the afternoons. That sundae looks amazing, glad the car fix works #366
Glad your car got sorted out. That ice cream sundae looks amazing. I’ve only tried virtual reality games once but I can imagine they could be quite a workout without you realising. Can’t help you out on the song, sorry! #project366
It must have been a relief to get the car sorted out! How lovely to go for a walk without the boys. I don’t think my husband and I have had any time alone for months either. We always go for a walk as a family in the evenings. The game sounds very interesting, although I don’t think I would like wearing the headset as I’m claustrophobic.
VR does sound a good way to get some exercise. I cant cope with it, messes with my sense of balance and causes me nausea.
Aaaahhhhh the childless walk sounds lovely, a nice boost for you both, great choice by the boys to stay behind.
Might need to try the Louis documentaries, fed up of the same old same old that I normally watch
Oh I watched Humans…it was pretty good!
The VR sounds fun, and nice to be able to go for a walk without the kids.
Human sounds interesting. Nice to have quality time with your spouse. The Ice cream sundae looks delicious. VR seems very exhausting but dodging bullets sounds cool!
We have a VR set but rarely use it as its such a faff to set up. The romantic walk sounds lovely, it is so nice to have some child free time and the sundae looks awesome
Awwww so glad you guys got to spend some quality time together… and got a fabulous sundae to boot too! Glad you got the car sorted too, totally agree it’s always a worry when anything is wrong, it puts you off driving it!
The virtual reality sounds fabulous, I reckon it would be more up Liv’s street than mine, I would be all over the place hitting and breaking things no doubt. Best I stay in reality! 😉
Hope you are all having the loveliest of weeks! Sim
I have never tried a VR game, reminds me of Knightmare that used to be on the TV when I was a kid! #project366
Glad your car got sorted out. That ice cream sundae looks delicious. Can’t help you out on the song, sorry xx
I am not sure I have watched Humans! Looking for something new to watch so may look into that. I wonder if I got myself into virtual reality I would be more inclined to work out? Sounds like a good game though and something my eldest would enjoy!
