Weekly Update

Week 33 Of 2020: Rowing to fitness!

This week seems to have past me by in one big blur! I simply cannot believe I am writing my next weekly roundup already!

Hospital

This week I had to take Karen to the hospital for a routine appointment, it was the first time we have gone privately. This was only down to the fact that the waiting list is over 18 months on the NHS due to COVID-19. The whole process seemed to go smoothly. The boys came along for the road trip too and kept me company while she was in her appointment.

After driving back we had a well earned takeaway. It’s the first week our local Chinese takeaway was open. I had been having cravings for salt and pepper chicken for a good while now!

Clay Painting

Me clay painting a Nordic Santa

On Saturday we booked the boys to do some clay painting. We went a few years back and they really enjoyed it, they love getting creative. Both me and Karen had a go too, we decided to both paint a little Nordic Santa’s. They booked tables out rather than individual slots, this was to ensure social distancing while painting, it was great to see they had put some thought into the process. The even spray down all the paint bottles before the next use.

With a 2-hour slot booked there was plenty of time for us to complete our mini projects, youngest on the other hand, picked a massive monster truck money box. He did get it finished just in time!

After our session we found a lovely pub to have a family meal out. They had some fun outside COVID-19 sections. Each with their own table and shed like fencing around. With a water proof roof and plenty of greenery (not the fake ivy in the picture!) It was a fantastic meal in a fantastic place!

Eating out. Big burger and fries on a board.

Rowing Machine

Last week I ordered a rowing machine from amazon to solve my fitness issue. I wasn’t expecting it to arrive this week as it clearly said next Friday! But it came within 24 hours. I did a load of research into the best rower and decided that a magnetic resistance would be the best. After all they are the quietest out of the three main styles.

I went for the reasonably priced JLL R200+, there where others on the market that are a little more pricey but the reviews for this seemed to paint a better picture.

So as of writing I have done two 30-minute sessions. The first of which I covered 4.49km and the second 4.77km. Burning just over 200 calories each time. With an aim to start shifting some of my extra weight and get some core fitness! Perhaps I need to stop eating out and focus more on the fitness? Small steps that’s what I say!

Track of the week

This week is one of the awesome songs by Sia, Unstoppable. Sia always seems to get it right with her songs. I usually love Sia’s music videos too but for this song I have found another! Leon: The professional is a fantastic film. Clipped together to create a music video that more than rivals the original creation!
