Ever wanted a Smart Home?
We are still in the thick of it with out house refurbishment project. But while we have the house back to the brickwork its an ideal time to think about creating a truly Smart Home!
I can have quite a geeky side and love seeing how tech integrates with modern life. But it’s also important we do not lose all those traditional home comforts. I have read many guides on How to create a luxurious smart home. I love the fact that you can control everything right down to the colour you want your lights to be!
The benefits of a Smart Home
We are lucky we have a security system in place. It really is not a hardship for me to integrate that into a central hub. Whilst we are at it we need to look at replacing our dated oil boiler with a brand new more economical and smarter version. But I think my priority would be to have my kitchen fully kitted out.
Convenience
From being able to remotely preheat my oven to being able to see inside my fridge while at the supermarket. I think once I get going of the idea there will be not stopping me (unless the Mrs cottons on to my plan!). Although I am sure she would appreciate dinner being a bit earlier as the oven can heat up before I arrive home. It’s just so much more convenient being able to control everything remotely. The house can be warm and welcoming before we arrive home and the fridge won’t be empty anymore as we will have remembered to stock up with the right products.
Compromise
Although I think from my wife’s point of view she would be concerned that we would lose some of the homely features. It might all get too futuristic for her. She has plans for a couple of cosy Tub Chairs for our master bedroom overlooking our fantastic view. Or she is desperate to have a log fire, that obviously would not be part of my smart hub! So maybe we can meet in the middle and have a house that incorporates tech and more classical features too!
After all marriage is about compromise isn’t it. In my opinion anything beyond the bare plaster and unfinished bathrooms will be a winner for me!
