How to Raise a Team Player

In life we don’t always get to choose who to work with. Plus we need to collaborate with others as we can’t all be good at everything. Furthermore, your child will need to be able to communicate with others and deal with team dynamics. A way in which you can help is by giving them the opportunity to practice. Especially with groups such as sports clubs and choirs. Additionally playing board games are another way in which you can do this as it also involves collaboration. We’ve teamed up with a private school in Dublin to share some more ideas on how to raise a team player with you below.

Understanding Emotions

We can all be affected by things and have emotions. They can easily be understood through body language. This is something that can offer benefit when working in a group as you’re able to understand how members of your team feel and offer support. This is something that you can work on by having conversations about the different emotions that they feel and what they look like.

Communication Skills

Inevitably, to work alongside others, your child will need to talk. They will need to understand their needs by listening to them carefully and possibly help by offering suggestions.

Respect

Finally, respect is something that we all expect to be treated with and forms the basis of any good relationship. In order for them to create good foundations and healthy work relations, you will need to teach your child to respect others and their ideas.
