See who will buy its parts

You might not be able to sell the entire car as it is. But how about the parts that are inside it? This can be tricky, as usually, the only individual parts that sell easily on the private market are for specialty cars or collector’s cars. The kind that hobbyists would want to refurbish on their own. You can often find these kinds of hobbyists in auto forums. But you can always try your hand on sites like eBay, as well.

Get it junked

If you think your car is no good at all, then perhaps it might be time to give it up entirely. Thankfully, there are teams like car wreckers who will take your old motor off your hands in almost any state. You can get a chunk of change by getting your car junked for its parts and scrap. But this won’t be as much as if you sold it whole or sold parts individually, so manage your expectations.

Give it for a good cause

Of course, you don’t have to give up your old car for your own good. In fact, sometimes it might do a lot of good for someone else. Take a look at charitable causes near you that will accept a car donation, either directly or by selling its parts. You might even be able to claim the value of the donated car on your taxes at the end of the year.

There are many different kinds of people and groups you could sell your car to, but selling to a mechanic would make a lot of sense. They will be able to do a lot more with the car than perhaps others might. They will be able to give you a valuation of what you should be getting and they won’t be able to be a lot more productive with the future of the vehicle. With their work, they might be able to restore certain parts of the car and then sell to somebody who will then benefit.

Recycle it

If your car can’t be sold, traded, or donated, then having it junked might be the only thing left for it. Aside from those who might offer you a bit of cash for just that. You can also look at car recycling centres that might be in your area. This might be the most eco-friendly way of disposing of an old car. Nut having it junked by auto wreckers still makes use of the materials that come out of the process.
