Depending on the age of your children the magic of Christmas might have started to sadly waiver, children hear things from older children in school and begin to have serious doubts. They might question the logistics of how Father Christmas can get around everyone in one night or test their parents asking Santa for something but not telling their parents! You might feel a little sad not quite ready to lay Santa to rest, what can you do to prolong that magic?

Leaving Treats For Santa

We already do some of the suggestions, Santa always has a plate left out with a mine pie and a carrot for the reindeers. Naturally for authenticity sake my wife always take a bite of the mince pie and leave some crumbs as evidence. Likewise I tend to nibble on the carrot to make everything look as real as possible. It’s worth bearing in mind if you do make some magical reindeer dust please forego the glitter or only use it indoors, as it doesn’t agree with birds and mammals digestive systems.

A Key For Santa

We don’t have a chimney at my mum’s so use a magical Christmas key to explain how Santa can get in the house.

We never started a Christmas Eve Box, but I do like the idea. Many of my wife’s friends have done them for their children. I like the idea of little treats to see them through Christmas Eve as they can be a little hyped for Christmas that day, a nice family film and perhaps some cookies to decorate to pass the time go down well.

Most of all I like the jute sacks, usually the presents we/Santa brings are just piled everywhere. He has to drop off at an eye wateringly high number of houses per second to get through everyone.

Make A Santa Runway

We haven’t made a runway for Santa before. But this is something new to try this year! Outdoor lights and lanterns guiding the way for Santa to land and deliver presents might be a novel way to revitalise the magic of Christmas!

Finally, don’t forget to track Santa online too, it helps convince children that getting around everyone is possible in one night as they can see where he goes on his magical journey.

If they are still unsure about whether Santa exists you could take them to Lapland to meet him!
