I know one of my wife’s pet hates is the fact I just throw my dirty washing on the floor. Yes, we can’t all be perfect, but she picks it up, turns it inside out, places it in the laundry basket and magically it appears in my drawer or wardrobe clean a few days later. As far as I was concerned the system was working? Why change when the system seemed quite flawless. But I think the fact my clothes never made it to the washing basket by my own fair hands has finally driven her slightly crazy! A happy wife means a happy life, or so they say, I think it’s time to mend my ways (she is pretty tolerant usually but eventually she completely loses it, then it’s best to fall in line and quickly!).

I am trying harder now; my wife has bought a new laundry basket from brabantia and it has been easier, I am making more of a conscious effort to place my clothes in the correct basket at the end of the day. I guess I have taken it for granted as my wife works from home, so she has a chance to catch up with the chores during the day, but it’s a thankless task because as soon as she tidies it all away we come home from school and work and mess everything up all over again! She says with the house to keep and all her blog commitments it’s become too much, its like Groundhog Day with the laundry, a never ending repeating washing nightmare.

I think her patience had well and truly run out as she looked at ways to keep on top of the laundry after feeling it was getting out of control… it has made a difference. The right laundry basket has helped me change my ways, I am placing the clothes in colours or whites correctly. I am not brave enough to deviate from the new laundry routine! Since I have been better at bringing clothes downstairs the kids are following suit, so the laundry is more manageable for the wife and one less pet peeve for her to grumble about!
