Moving House? Here’s All You Need to Know

They say moving to a new house is one of the most stressful life events you can go through. This is largely because it takes an awful lot of planning and preparation. However, did you know there’s things you can do to reduce the stress of moving  house?

Here, you’ll learn everything you need to know to make moving house a more enjoyable and relaxing experience.

Declutter and start packing early

One thing that’s going to save you an awful lot of time, is de-cluttering before you start packing. After all, it makes no sense to pack things you’re going to end up throwing away anyway once you get to your new home. So, start by going through each room and either throw out, sell or give away the things you no longer want or need. A good declutter will make your move so much easier.

Once you’ve got that out of the way, you can focus on packing. Ideally, you’ll want to start as early as possible. Create a list for each room of what needs to be packed. You could even organise the list based upon what can be packed first that you’re unlikely to use until the move. The earlier you start, the less there’ll be to do once moving day arrives.

Consider using pallet delivery

Another thing to organise is how you’re going to move everything to your new home. Hiring your own van may seem like the cheapest option, but it’s a lot more stressful trying to move everything yourself. Instead, you might want to consider pallet delivery

Getting your belongings delivered to your new house via pallet is more affordable than hiring a removal firm and a lot easier than doing it yourself.

Decide where the furniture will go

One of the most time-consuming things you’ll encounter on moving day, is where everything is going to go. Therefore, it can be really useful to decide where furniture will go before you actually move.

You can use photos of your new house, or a floor plan if you have one, to decide where your furniture will fit better. If you go into it with an idea of where everything is going, it’s will really reduce the amount of stress on moving day.

Overall, moving to a new house can be stressful, but the tips above can really help to make it an easier, more relaxing experience. Remember, the earlier you start planning ahead, the easier the move will be.
