How Playing Computer Games Relieves Stress
My main job is pretty stressful. I work as a practice manager in a doctor’s surgery. Some days can be very challenging. Luckily, I found playing computer games helped with my stress levels. Sometimes gaming gets a raw deal, but actually it can be very beneficial in small doses.
I like to play the games on Plays.org because they are free and quick and easy to play. If a game doesn’t appeal, you can move on to another. There is so much choice to pick from. They even have some Halloween themed games!
Dopamine
When you are having fun playing an online game your body releases dopamine which is also known as the happy or feel good hormone. Then you don’t feel so anxious or down.
A Chance To Be Social
Some online games let you chat to your friends. Socialising even remotely can be good for you. It’s that sense of companionship that stops you feeling alone. You can chat to fellow gamers about your day and vent about the worst bits to release some of the stress of the day!
Help You Unwind
Gaming can help you unwind because its an escape from your normal life. You can forget what is troubling you for a bit and focus on something else for a while. When your focused on the game content your brain is less likely to wander back to the subject of work. It’s good to have a proper break from the demands and the deadlines associated with the workplace! Otherwise it is all you can think about.
Sense of Accomplishment
Some days at work you might feel you haven’t achieved much as nothing has gone your way! It’s just been one challenge after another. The good thing about computer games is you can feel that sense of accomplishment when you master a level or unlock a new item. It can be very rewarding.
Feeling Nostalgic
Playing some of the classic and retro games you can feel nostalgic which can remind you of happier less complicated times from your youth. When you didn’t have all the responsibilities you do now. That can have quite a good effect on your mood.
So now you know how good gaming is when you need a boost and some light relief, you might be wondering what games to try.
Quick Easy Games To Play
As I mentioned initially, I really like the variety of games over on Plays.org, some of them are educational too. It’s a good site to introduce your children too as a break from their consoles. They have lots of different categories from room escapes, mahjong games and solitaire to cartoon games, pinball and retro classics. Plus they are continually adding new games so you will never be bored!
Knife Hit

So very simple, in Knife Hit you throw knifes at the wooden board trying to get the apples or just using up all your knifes and not knocking any off the board.
Neon Invaders

A trip down memory lane for me with this Space Invaders type game. Another simple concept but well executed. The Neon Invaders go quicker and quicker as the game progresses, I loved the challenge.
Pac-Chef

Another version of a classic game. I liked trying to get all the ingredients and avoid the other chefs chasing me in Pac-Chef! Again, a good one to feel nostalgic and be transported back to pleasant times in my childhood.
