Women often find it hard to choose gifts for men. So, I thought I would point you in the right direction with a few ideas here to help you find the perfect gift for the men in your lives. I wear many hats, I am a dad, a husband, an uncle, a brother and a son so I tick a lot of boxes in terms of “the men in your lives”. Therefore, I can give you my personal feedback of what gifts works for me. These suggestions will hopefully be appreciated by the majority of men in your lives.

Put Thought Into Gift Giving

Gifts for men should always be thoughtful, we basically just want to know that the recipient cares for us and has taken time to find something we will like. Spend time to find out our interests and what matters to us.

A lot of men (myself included) keep getting very practical gifts to help care for the family or the upkeep of the house, such as power tools or a sturdy box to carry them in. As great as these are, we still like gifts just for us too! Something that doesn’t loosely benefit everyone else in the household would be nice occasionally.

Budget

Men generally are less interested in how much you have spent and are more concerned about the meaning behind the gift. When they are teenagers it’s a bit different, boys like to flex over how much a gift costs.

My youngest son will always go for the most expensive option. Just because he thinks an inflated price means it must be the best gift! So, for him the perfect gift is always the most expensive, he won’t entertain cheaper options. But as you get older cost is not a priority its all about the gesture and thought of the gift.

Quantity Isn’t Everything

Less gifts but more meaningful ones will be remembered more favourably. So, avoid giving lots of little gifts just to make it look like you are generous. When picking the perfect gift for the men in your lives its all about making a connection.

Aftershave

A firm favourite in any men’s gift guide has to be aftershave. Aftershave helps create memories; it can also make you feel sentimental. A splash of aftershave is used on every special occasions so brings back fond memories of those meals out and celebrations. A clever way to hang on to those precious moments in life and hold them dear.

It really is the perfect gift for men for many other reasons too. Wearing an intoxicating fragrance makes men feel confident, emboldened and attractive.

Skincare Routine

As men get older, we tend to take more time with our skincare routines. We want to look youthful and have healthy skin even if our skincare routines might seem simpler to those of women. Taking care of ourselves still matters to us and we like to try the finer things in life, like sophisticated skincare products.

Grooming Kits

For this reason, grooming kits can make considerate gifts. Especially if you adapt them to the man’s personal preferences. For example, getting a beard kit for someone who is trying to get their beard looking its best shows you put extra thought into that particular grooming gift.

Beards can be quite uncomfortable when you first grow them, so products to soothe that itchiness will always be appreciated. I have gone back to being clean shaven now, but I remember the challenges of beard growing only too well!

Apparently three in every ten men cut their own hair. I guess that’s understandable as getting an appointment at a barber can be difficult at the best of times. Therefore, why now gift them a hair clipper so they can always look stylish without the inconvenience of scheduling an appointment. It’s just so much easier having the flexibility to do your own hair cut whenever you want.

Technology

Aside from grooming products technology always works for me as a perfect gift. I enjoy gaming as much now at forty one as I did as a teenager. So new headphones or an upgraded gaming keyboard or mouse will be appreciated here whatever the occasion (let’s hope the wife is reading this!). Gadgets and gaming are a great way to relieve stress.

A Bottle of Alcohol

As I said about enjoying the finer things in life, especially as you get older, how about gifting a luxury bottle of alcohol. Something the recipient wouldn’t normally indulge in because they tend to spend their money on practical things not life’s little luxuries. Or if they have a favourite drink, you know they love you but can’t always afford you could always get them that.
