Driving in bad weather! #drive

When the nights start to draw in and the weather changes
we usually put a stop on travelling around on our mini-adventures, however there is
always something that comes up that involves a lengthy journey so we will
inevitably end up travelling.

Today I had to take my car in for its second service, you
might be thinking a trip to the local garage couldn’t be that far, well for us
it’s over a 100 mile round trip to the local dealership! The roads are varied
in quality some are great others are the typical narrow welsh winds and bends!

In these winter months the weather can be so varied
(especially here), but I always keep an eye on the weather forecast to ensure I
am ready for whatever weather I may have to drive through! Today’s weather was
gusty and heavy rain (at one point I could barely see two feet ahead!) luckily
the temperature was steady so no ice in sight!

One tip I noted from my driving experience today is that if
there are no other cars on the road it can be hard to identify hidden puddles
that have the potential to slide you off the road, so make sure you keep your
speed down, this will also help with the fast hitting cross winds!

By driving slower it gives you more time to look at the
condition of the road ahead, at one point today I was relieved to see a car
coming towards me hitting a massive puddle that I could not see, there is no
doubt that I would have been in serious trouble if I was hitting it at 60mph!
(So I crept through it at 10mph!)

Another rule if you are travelling in bad weather ensure you
take blankets, food and drinks with you in case you end up stuck on route. (We
usually take some colouring in and reading books for the boys to keep them entertained!)

Also ensure you check your tire pressures and engine fluid
levels before making any long journey, drive safely and only travel if you need
to in bad weather!
