Recently I was waiting for The Mrs to finish up some work so
I was flicking around Iplayer seeing what I could pick up and watch without
After a few minutes I hovered over EastEnders and with a
faint recollection of Phil and Grant, Dot Cotton and Ian Beale and thought why
not give it a go and see what is happening on the square again! I remember
clearly many a Sunday afternoon watching the omnibus with the family when I was
younger! (Mostly we were all full from a good old fashion roast dinner and couldn’t
move to change the channel!)
Well after that first episode it took me a little while to
get to grips with what was going on with each storyline but I got hooked back
into it! (Yes I know I should be watching something sporting or a repeat of Top
But as the episodes went on and the tension started to mount
with the whole “Bobby” storyline I found myself quickly sneaking in extra
viewing time while doing general chores like washing up or cooking dinner! (I
am grateful for smartphone apps!)
It has been a quirky little addiction with the programme
throwing in some old characters especially Cathy who was supposed to be dead!
Tonight we had the return of Dean Gaffney who played Robbie
Jackson; he used to have an on screen dog called Wellard! He is set to return
for 6 episodes where we will see the exit of his mother Carol Jackson it’s not
all doom and gloom as it appears he will be returning from India with a son and
another dog Wellard 2!
Well I thought I should share this not so secret new
addiction but I find having something to watch while doing the more inane
things in life make the whole experience less tiresome.
Remember if your preference is like mine you can watch via catch
up on Iplayer usually around half an hour after the show has finished!
